Help Support Robert Mendoza's Hospice Care
Donation protected
From Phoenix Mendoza:
In May of 2024, my father, Robert Mendoza, was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver. He immediately made necessary lifestyle changes and improved for a short period of time, but by January of 2025, he began to decline in health. As of March 2025, he is in late-stage liver failure and on hospice care.
My mom, Trudy Mendoza, acted as his full-time caretaker from January to March, but it’s been a considerable amount of work, and he’s sustained some falls overnight. We hired in-home healthcare professionals to help her, and while they assist enormously with the load, their services are not covered by my dad’s insurance. My mom began with help two times a week, but as his illness progresses, we’ve added more hours and are nearing 24-hour care.
Bob doesn’t want to be in a hospice facility or hospital at the end of his life, and we’ve honored his wishes. The cost of the care is adding up quickly. Furthermore, during my dad’s rapid decline, he started to neglect bills, insurance payments, and other responsibilities, resulting in rapidly accumulated debt and expired documents with costly late fees. We are now on top of the bills and documentation, but it’s been a massive expenditure on top of the cost of the in-home caregivers, medical bills, and medication.
My mom has no income, and I have had to take substantial time off work in order to assist with the administrative side of his death. All donations will go towards the cost of in-home caregivers for the remainder of my dad’s life, as well as immediate debt repayment and fees.
Thank you all!
