Meet ourbrother, Robert Porter — a kind, determined, and quiet soul who has always found strength in the simple joys of life: long drives with music, intense CrossFit workouts, and the comfort of routine.

In January 2025, everything changed.

Robert was diagnosed with a large, inoperable brain tumor after he began experiencing terrifying grand mal seizures. Overnight, his world — and ours — shifted completely. He had to stop working. He lost his ability to drive. He could no longer go to the gym, which was his safe place and coping outlet. Every part of his daily life became dictated by this diagnosis.

When treatment began, doctors warned our mother: "The next seizure could be fatal." Not long after, that terrifying moment came. Robert had a seizure that required emergency transport — and none of us knew if he would survive the ride. Our oldest sister rushed to the hospital and waited at the ambulance bay so she could be the first to tell our mother: He’s alive. That memory will stay with us forever.

Since then, Robert’s life has revolved around:

Weekly blood draws

Frequent MRIs and CT scans

Ongoing chemotherapy in the hopes of shrinking the tumor and increasing his time with us

Robert also lives with Autism Spectrum Disorder, which makes it incredibly difficult for him to express what he’s going through or reach out for connection. He’s quietly enduring a storm that many of us will never fully understand.

Our family has rallied around him. One of our sisters even moved in with her family to ensure someone is always nearby in case of another seizure. But despite all the love and effort, the financial burden has become overwhelming.

Medical bills continue to pile up — and while we can’t take away Robert’s diagnosis, we can try to ease the weight it’s placing on him and our family.
