As some of you may know, Rob McCormack, a loving partner, devoted father of three, grandfather of four and caretaker to four golden retrievers, wasdiagnosed with stage 4 melanoma in July 2024 . A diagnosis that has deeply affected him and those around him.
For nearly forty years, our dad owned and operated Simcoe Print Solutions, formerly located on Dunlop Street in downtown Barrie. Beyond his role as a business owner, he was a respected and cherished member of the community, known for his generosity, unwavering integrity, and approachable nature. Alongside his loyal canine companion, Sally, he cultivated a warm and welcoming atmosphere that endeared him to both individuals and businesses throughout the area.
Due to his declining health and ongoing treatments, Rob was faced with the difficult decision to close the physical location of his print shop and transition operations to his home.
During his ongoing battle with cancer, Rob encountered a sudden and devastating setback when, one day in late May 2025, he abruptly lost his vision. After consultations with numerous doctors and specialists, it was determined that the treatment was likely the cause of this vision loss. Because our dad is his own business, this added barrier makes it extremely difficult for him to fulfill his day-to-day tasks within his business and life.
With the assumption being that the treatment was the cause of his vision loss, Rob’s team of doctors decided that pausing treatment was the best option for hopefully restoring his eyesight. After working with doctors for months tirelessly at Princess Margaret Hospital, going to multiple appointments a week, with what seemed to be going progressively well we were hit by the devastating news that while we had paused treatment, cancer has now spread to my dad’s brain,
a gut punch in an already challenging situation.
Presently, Rob will begin radiation treatment to attack the cancer in his brain this week. As many of you know, cancer is ugly, in all forms. This disease has left our dad very thin, very sick and completely exhausted on a good day. Despite the severity of his diagnosis, and everything he’s been through, he’s faced this journey head on with remarkable strength and optimism, championed by hope and the support of his family & friends.
Why we need your help:

So! If you are able to help, even in the smallest way, it would mean that we help alleviate some of our dads expenses, pressures and stresses throughout this journey, so he can focus on the most important thing of all, healing
