Our sister Raquel was recently diagnosed with one of the most aggressive breast cancers. Raquel is a single mother to her beautiful 3-year-old daughter Diana and handsome 19-year-old son Justus. When Raquel was nine years old, she found her natural talent of dancing ballet and quickly went to her near profession as a prima ballerina. Raquel studied at the New York City of Ballet and then taught and choreographed her exquisite movements to other dancers for many years to follow. After caring for our mother, a breast cancer survivor, she knew she wanted to give back to the community and care for people at their most vulnerable times. Over the past ten years, she has worked as a registered nurse providing exceptional care and compassion to her patients, family, and friends. Most recently, caring for those in the intensive care unit who were without their loved ones throughout this pandemic. If you know Raquel, you know she is one of the strongest, most independent, and hard-working women you’ll ever meet. She has worked so hard to give her family a wonderful life. This week, Raquel will begin chemotherapy and continue with possible surgery and radiation over the next eight months. Raquel will be facing moments of exhaustion, leading her to the inability to work. She has brightened so many people's hearts, supported and lifted so many when they were down, and put smiles on many frowns. It’s our turn to provide her with lots of love, prayers, and support.
