Rakhesh Nayka had been looking forward to his holiday for a long time. He was on a pilgrimage to Manas Sarovar (Sacred Mountain) in the Nepal-Tibet region as something special to do before his 40th birthday this year and was happily sharing travel updates with colleagues back home.
Tragically, while Rakhesh was returning after completing his pilgrimage, a catastrophic Nepal flood struck the region. He has been missing since 26 August 2026.
Rakhesh and his wife, Saksshee, have known each other since high school and have shared a loving relationship of more than 20 years. Together, they have built a beautiful life and are raising two daughters, aged 4 and 6.
Rakhesh has been part of the Matthews team for over 10 years. As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, he’s a valued colleague and a friend to many of us. Saksshee has been employed with Toyota Finance for the past 3 years.
For Rakhesh's family, life has been on hold since August. They are still waiting for definitive news from the authorities, living with the uncertainty of not knowing what has happened to someone they love.
Yet, the practical demands of everyday life continue.
During this prolonged period of uncertainty, Saksshee is managing the ongoing costs of running a household and supporting their two young daughters, including everyday living expenses. These financial pressures add to the emotional burden she is carrying through an extraordinarily difficult time.
Matthews has been providing support to the family. With Saksshee’s agreement, we've established this fundraiser to build on that support and help give her and the girls some financial stability while they continue to wait for answers. Every donation will go directly to Saksshee.
There is so much about the family’s situation that remains uncertain. Helping them manage their immediate financial needs is something we can do right now.
When there is confirmed news, and Saksshee feels comfortable sharing it, updates will be provided here.
Please consider making a donation, no matter the amount, to support Saksshee and the girls. If you aren’t able to donate, sharing this fundraiser with others would also mean a great deal.
Thank you for caring about Rakhesh and his family, and for helping us support them through this difficult time.
