Life changed for us in January 2024 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer for the first time. I underwent surgery, completed treatment, and was doing everything I could to heal and move forward. But at my very first mammogram check-up after treatment, we received devastating news—cancer had returned. This time, it’s the same type-invasive ductal carcinoma, same stage 2, same grade even!

This time, I face an even greater battle. I need to undergo a double mastectomy, a major and complex surgery that will require extensive recovery time, along with additional added recovery time for a newer progressive reconstruction. This means I will be out of work, and my family of five depends on my contributions to stay afloat. The truth is, we haven’t even had the chance to fully recover financially from my first diagnosis, and now we’re back in the same place—struggling to make ends meet while I fight for my life.
