Help support Quinn Johnes and his family
Donation protected
Dear Little Dolphins community,
It is with very heavy hearts that we let you know about the passing of a beloved LD dad: Gerry Gilhool, father of Quinn Johnes (a Quail last year) and husband of Ali Johnes. Gerry passed away in a tragic surfing accident on Saturday, March 6th.

Those who knew him remember Gerry as having a huge, joyful, and generous heart. He loved to laugh, and was an incredible storyteller and music lover. Above all, he was an incredible father to Quinn -- and could often be found at LD with a gaggle of kids on his lap, reading them all a story. Gerry's smile, laughter and spirit were infectious: even those who met him in passing commented on what an absolute joy he was to be around. His loss will be felt by all in our community.
Gerry's death comes at a particularly difficult time for the family, as Ali is about to begin treatment for cancer. In the spirit of community that is so important to Little Dolphins, we are hoping to come together to support Quinn and Ali during this difficult time.

Our efforts include:
1. Collecting handwritten notes from LD families and compiling them into a book for Ali and Quinn;
2. Collecting monetary donations through this GoFundMe page, 100% of which will be put toward meals, food delivery, grief support and other items to ensure the Johnes family is taken care of;
3. Compiling a video of the LD students singing the Oh-Wee-Sah-Na-Sah song (the "rock in hand" / grandmother song) for the family.
If you would like to help support Ali and Quinn, please consider making a donation and/or writing a handwritten note (which can be dropped off in the LD office by Wednesday, March 17th).
We know that this is a difficult time for everyone, so please know that we are grateful for absolutely anything you can do: whether that is a note of sympathy and support, a small financial donation or something larger.
If you have any questions or additional ideas about how we can support the family, please let us know!
And thank you for holding Ali and Quinn in your hearts during this incredibly difficult time. It is the spirit of loving community that makes this school so very special.
With love,
The Little Dolphins Administration & Little Dolphins Angel Heart Committee
