Help Support Phillip And His Family During Cancer Treatment
Spende geschützt
Hi, my name is Nardi, and I am starting this Go Fund Me for my friends, the Rogers Family: dad Phil, mum Rebecca, sister Manasseh and brother Anaru (Bubbles), as they go through their son/brother Phillip's third battle with Cancer, being the second time in his lung.
In February 2020, at only 14 years old, Phillip was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in his left ankle - a rare and aggressive bone cancer. He went through months of chemotherapy and had to have his left leg amputated just below the knee and then went on to endure another stretch of chemotherapy after surgery. All this with quiet strength and determination. All this right in the peak of COVID.
By November that year, Phillip was able to finally return home to Port Lincoln to be reunited with his family and friends. Whilst carrying the weight of everything he had been through; he was resilient and had hope.
From late 2020 onwards, Phillip and his family continued to travel between Port Lincoln and Adelaide for regular checkups with his team of Drs. In 2022, at 16 years old, they were faced with another challenge when a tumour was found in Phillip's right lung which required another surgery to treat. The family continued to support Phillip on what they thought was the road to recovery.
A NEW EMERGENCY
On 22nd of April 2025, now 19, Phillip was rushed to Port Lincoln Hospital as he was struggling to breathe. Doctors discovered nearly 2 litres of blood in his left lung, and scans revealed two new tumours, one in each lung.
Phillip was given pain relief to manage the excruciating pain he was in. While he was still awake, he underwent an emergency procedure to drain the fluid from Phillip's lung. The next morning Phillip and his dad Phil were flown to Adelaide via Royal Flying Doctors for urgent treatment at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. After going through a barrage of tests and scans, the found a serious blockage in his left lung which was putting a dangerous amount of pressure on his heart. Phillip underwent a 4-hour emergency surgery to relieve the blockage, and it wasn't until later that night that dad Phil was allowed into ICU to finally sit by his son’s side.
When Phillip woke up from surgery, he had a feeding tube and 3 other tubes inside his body to help support his body as it recovers. Thankfully he was able to have the feeding tube removed the next day and as he gets stronger, he will be able to have the other tubes removed along the way.
On the 29th of April Phillip has an appointment with his team of doctors are hoping they can put together a treatment plan moving forward, which is likely to start with chemotherapy at a minimum. At this stage we don't know Phillip's long-term prognosis, but we wish to support Phillip and his family during this daunting time.
We are asking for your support, whether through a donation, sharing Phillip's story, or saying a prayer and keeping him in your thoughts.
Any funds raised will go towards:
• Prescription medications and medical supplies
• Upcoming Travel and Accommodation costs for both Phillip and or his parents
• Living costs while the family helps Phillip focus on healing.
Thank you for taking the time to read Phillip's story. We would love you to leave some encouraging words cheering him on.
