Help Support Phil and His Family

Donation protected
Hi,

My name is Courtney and I am Phil's daughter, I am writing this on behalf of my dad. Unfortunately this is not our first Go Fund Me as this fighter of ours has had to continue fighting and fighting (without a complaint I should add).

For those of you stumbling across this and do not know our story or the history of my dad, Phil, I will make a long story short. Roughly seven years ago my dad was diagnosed with colon cancer, which was diagnosed as "very common" and "treatable" cancer. My dad entered surgery to remove the cancerous part of his colon and this is when everything that could go wrong did. He went hypothermic, septic, and became very sick but he was "cured"! After many new changes and a couple of tough months adjusting to a new life with an ostomy bag we were pleased that he was cancer free! Shortly after the celebrations came another cancer, and then another cancer luckily they were all treatable and he was in the clear again. Unfortunately, due to his health and complications he hasn't been able to work a real 9-5 Monday to Friday type job in years. We were fortunate enough to have family friends give him a part time job that he was able to do when he was feeling well enough, but he's no longer able to commit to that job due to pain.

Fast forward to 2021, a year that has been tough for everyone around the world. A few weeks ago we were told that the cancer is back and that it's "Stage 4 Lung Cancer", they were fairly certain this was terminal and there was more cancer but they needed to run a few more tests. As of today, November 30th 2021 my dad, Phil has been diagnosed with terminal cancer in the lungs, bones, liver, lymph nodes and spine. To say getting this phone call was hard is an understatement.

Now I know this is all very sad but I need to state that Phil Minns, my superhero dad is truly one of the strongest people I have ever known. After he told me this news today he somehow made me laugh, and turned the conversation from him to something else. He never complains, he would do anything for anyone, he has kept up the strongest fight, but has been dealt an awful set of cards.

They don't really give out timelines these days but we have been told that he has a year or less with all of these new diagnoses (crossing my fingers and wishing for longer). We are now looking for help to cover travel costs, to help pay bills and rent for him, to tick off a couple of small "bucket list" items and to just get him comfortable. He may have a year, or this may get more aggressive and move quicker - we really don't know. My hope in making this is to simply help him enjoy the time he has left, to make him cozy, to have some experiences and to just make things less stressful.

We know life is expensive, especially right now, so we appreciate any support!
