My name is Peter Owens @petethegolfcoach. I am an aspiring golf coach on Instagram who has been in and out of luck. I was adopted at 6 years old from Bulgaria. The trauma I experienced at orphanage has affected me to this day and has caused PTSD and flashbacks of this abuse. Unfortunately, I lost my adopted father at 19 years old and it caused much more trauma and my PTSD to get worse. My father inspired me to become a teacher and a coach.

In college, I pursued a major in secondary education and I wanted to help children in learn reading and writing skills in public schools. I wanted to teach to students about the valuable life lessons and skills needed to succeed today. Due to my bipolar disorder disability I had a very difficult experience receiving my teacher certification and I was not allowed to graduate as a teacher. This caused severe depression and additional trauma in my life. I had to discover what else I wanted to pursue in my life to become.

For much of my life it has been really hard for me because I also struggle with a mental illness called bipolar disorder. I have had multiple challenges in the workplace due to my bipolar diagnosis. It affects my ability to deal with anxiety and coping stress.

Last year, I came down to Florida to work in sales and health insurance. I was doing very well with work but I was working without a car and dealing with homelessness. I left my job to go pursue my aspirations in the golf industry.

I enjoyed then working at Innisbrook for the 2024 Valspar Championship. Unfortunately, I was still going through much stress of being homeless. Since then I have been trying to find work but I’m still dealing through being homeless on the streets. I've been living in Florida for more than 8 months, homeless. My faith has helped me get through these difficult times.
