Last week, our beautiful and brave little niece, Penelope, was diagnosed with meningococcal septicaemia — a life-threatening blood infection caused by bacterial meningitis.

Since Thursday, Penelope has been fighting with incredible strength in intensive care at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. Every hour is critical, and her journey is going to be long and is far from over.

Her parents, Elizabeth and Ricardo, haven’t left her side. As any parent would, they’ve dropped everything to be by Penelope’s bedside, sleeping at the hospital and focusing entirely on her care and recovery.

During this incredibly difficult time, they are both unable to work — and while their world has stopped, the bills haven’t. No parent in this unimaginable situation should have to worry about finances on top of everything else.

We’re raising funds to support Elizabeth and Ricardo, so they can continue doing what matters most right now: being there for Penelope.
