Update, April 11th, 2023: After an extended hospital stay in Marin County and a lot of hard work at the rehab facility in San Jose, Mako is preparing to come home. Arlete and her family are facing enormous expenses to help Mako transition to living in an apartment, adapting to life in his special wheelchair, and for his care.
We thank everyone who has reached out to Arlete and Mako, shared this GoFundMe on their social media, or donated for their continued support and generosity. We kindly ask again if it’s possible for you to help spread the word and share the updated GoFundMe on your social media accounts or to consider donating again.

My name is Candice Lin. A group of concerned friends and clients created this GoFundMe on behalf of our dear friend Arlete and her 21 year old son Pedro Agapito.
Pedro is a sweet, vibrant, gentle, and kind young man who loves cats.
On Friday, December 30th, Pedro, who is known as Mako to his friends and family, was critically injured in a car accident in Marin County. For unknown reasons, his airbag did not deploy while his passenger’s airbag did, and he was admitted to the ICU at the Marin Trauma Center. Mako has a significant amount of spinal swelling, which will take up to a year to go down. He has been unable to move his arms and legs since the accident. Until the spinal swelling diminishes, it is unknown how much functionality Mako will regain in his arms and legs.
Mako has a long road to recovery ahead of him. He will require constant care and treatment and the emotional and financial support of his family and friends.
His mother Arlete is self-employed and has been unable to work due to being focused on managing Mako’s care and being by his side as his condition has progressed. She has also been commuting from Daly City to Marin during a period of intense winter storms and flooding and continuing to care for her three other children, Gabriel (18), Luana (16), and Samuel (10).
All funds raised will go directly to supporting the family and their future needs as they care for Mako.
We kindly ask that you help spread the word, consider donating to this GoFundMe, or simply share it on your own social media account. We thank you in advance for your care and generosity.
