On November 8, 2022, during a time of life that’s meant to be exciting and happy as we planned Amanda‘s wedding, mom had a conference call with us girls that no one is ever truly prepared for. She said out loud those dreaded three words no one ever wants to hear from a loved one, especially their mom, “I have cancer”.
Over these last few months, mom has been battling stage four ovarian cancer with such courage, strength, and grace. In fact, most people wouldn’t even know she was sick! However, behind the scenes, it has not been that easy. She has currently completed 4 rounds of chemotherapy, and at the end of March, she will be undergoing surgery.
Besides the physical difficulties that come with treatment, what we didn’t realize entering into this situation were the additional costs that our parents would have to endure that Medicare does not cover. Medication, in particular, has become costly, especially since both of our parents currently require a lot of medical care (dad has congestive heart failure - which has been a complex journey for him as well). And while neither of them would ever complain about their struggles, we know this has been an added stress for both of them.
Many people have asked how they can help, so we set up this page to hopefully help alleviate some of their financial burdens during this challenging time. If you can afford to donate any amount of money, regardless of how big or small, it is gratefully received and endlessly appreciated. Your donations will be used for various expenses such as medical bills, prescriptions, co-pays, medical equipment, covering the loss of income while mom is out of work, and other unforeseen expenses that undoubtedly they will have.
But above all, we ask for your love, support and, prayers during this difficult time. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support.
