Help Support Pastor Cameron Batten’s Road to Recovery

On July 11th, our beloved dad, Cameron Batten, was in a serious single-vehicle accident that changed everything in an instant. He was driving his older model Tracker, which had a removable plastic hard top, no airbags, and questionable seatbelts. While he doesn’t remember the accident itself, he believes the steering wheel may have locked up—possibly due to a power steering failure—causing him to overcorrect and lose control. The crash left him with seven broken ribs and three broken vertebrae, and he was admitted to the ICU as a trauma patient.

Just days later, on July 13th, he underwent successful spinal surgery where pins were placed to stabilize his back. The next day, he was moved to the step down unit, fitted with a brace and able to sit in a chair for the first time. We were all hopeful and encouraged by his progress.

Then, on July 16th, everything changed again. After joking with nurses and chatting with friends over the phone, Dad suddenly went into respiratory and cardiac arrest. He was intubated and rushed back to the ICU, where he coded a second time. Thanks to the fast and skilled actions of his medical team, he was brought back. It was discovered that he had suffered a massive saddle pulmonary embolism (PE), which was successfully removed by an interventional radiologist.

Since then, Dad has remained intubated and sedated, but we’ve seen steady signs of improvement. We know this road to recovery will be long, challenging, and full of unknowns—but we also know Dad is a man of faith and a fighter.

Cameron is a father of three—Benjamin (who is in heaven), Rachael, and Ashley—and a lifelong pastor and missionary. His greatest joy is lifting up others with his humor, kindness, and unwavering faith. He has spent his life pouring into his community, and now we’re asking for support to help pour back into him.

Funds raised will help cover ongoing medical expenses, rehabilitation, equipment, and the many unforeseen costs that come with a long ICU stay and recovery journey.
