We are reaching out to you with a heartfelt request to support our brave IDF soldier, Oz Ocampo, who urgently needs our help.

Oz served as an IDF soldier and was sent to Be'eri Kibbutz and witnessed the horrific aftermath of the October 7th massacre. He fought Hamas with his unit, with the goal of rescuing the hostages and bringing them home safely. As part of his commander course, his task was to clear the logistical roads to ensure safe movement for the IDF and to facilitate a safe entry of supplies and aid to the citizens of Gaza.

Oz is more than just a soldier. He is a hardworking, compassionate young man who has always loved to help others. Oz is one of the youngest EMTs who volunteers his time to serve his community. Oz is the eldest brother to 2 younger siblings, serving as a role model and always looking after them. Oz excelled in school and spoke English fluently, displaying a bright future ahead of him.

Unfortunately, his last deployment resulted in severe injuries. When Oz entered one of the ruined houses in Gaza, Hamas bombed a house, causing a massive explosion while his entire unit was inside. He lost his best friend from childhood right before his very eyes in this tragic incident. It is a miracle that Oz is even with us today. To give more insight to Oz's story, he was found unresponsive amongst a pile of deceased bodies and was urgently flown to the nearest hospital in Israel. The impact of the explosion left Oz with brain injuries. These injuries have impaired his ability to retain short-term memory, cognitive functions, language/speech abilities, and the motor functions on the right side of his body. Oz now battles with PTSD, and these injuries have made everyday life a struggle. Additionally, Oz's parents have left their jobs to devote all of their time to focus on their child's medical needs.

It has now been 6 months and Oz is already showing signs of incredible strength and determination to recover. Our goal with this fundraiser is to rehabilitate Oz back to a life of independence where he can fully engage with his family, friends, and community. With the funds raised for Oz, we can facilitate his journey to recovery.

*Why We Need Your Help*

Oz’s doctors have recommended an intensive rehabilitation program at a specialized facility that focuses on veterans with complex injuries. This program offers physical therapy, neurological treatment, psychological support, and more. It is a holistic plan designed to address both his physical injuries and PTSD. Specifically, Oz requires:

- Speech therapy and vocal therapy

- Extra physiotherapy

- Hydrotherapy

- Psychological support

- A brain research program to work on his short-term memory

- Occupational therapy

Our goal is to bring Oz back to the man that he was before this tragedy. The total cost of this program, including travel, accommodation, and ongoing care, is substantial outside the family's means. Unfortunately, these expenses are not fully covered. This is where we humbly ask for your support.
