Hi, I'm Karen and I am the DNS at a LTC facility. One of our "superheroes" is facing her own personal crisis related to COVID. Our Maria Olivia, R.N., was a tireless, dedicated care giver during the COVID Pandemic. She worked our COVID Unit without hesitation, providing compassionate care and leading her team through unchartered waters. Originally from Bolivia, Maria married in the USA , now permanently residing here with her husband and raising her three beautiful children. Maria received word that her father was ill and flew to Bolivia to be with him. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with COVID and is intubated in the hospital. Her mother is now positive and hospitalized. The medical system is not like the USA and to navigate it is cash driven putting a burden on Olivia. Medical insurance excludes all things "COVID".
