On August 29th, our world changed forever. Our mom, Kelly, was diagnosed with stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer. The cancer has spread to her liver and lymph nodes, and although we knew she hadn’t been feeling like herself for a while, nothing could have prepared us for this devastating news.
Before her diagnosis, she had been experiencing chronic pain, headaches, and repeated respiratory issues for a while—first bronchitis and then pneumonia in her right lung, which we now know is where the cancer originated. After a pulmonary function test and chest X-ray, her pulmonologist ordered a CT lung scan. That scan revealed a 5cm mass in her upper right lung.
Just five days after being diagnosed, our mom was admitted to the hospital for coughing up straight blood. While she was there, she developed pneumonia in her right lung for the second time. She remained hospitalized for a week. This entire experience has been nothing short of an absolute nightmare.
All things considered, our mom is doing pretty well, and her faith remains strong. Anyone who knows her knows how caring, loving, generous, empathetic, thoughtful, and kind she is. She would give the shirt off her back for anybody. That's just who she is and who she always has been. She has endured so many hardships throughout her life, and each time she has emerged stronger. She has always been a fighter, and we know she will continue to fight through this difficult and uncertain journey.
We are raising funds to help make her life a little easier during this time. Donations will go towards travel to and from the hospital for appointments and treatment, medical expenses, and any unexpected costs that may arise along the way.
Thank you to everyone for your love, generosity, and support as our mom faces this tough battle. Your prayers and kindness mean more than we can ever express. We are keeping the faith and our trust in God and are hoping you all will pray for her as we continue to do so as well.
WE LOVE YOU MOM! YOU ARE A FIGHTER AND A WARRIOR!
With love, hope, and gratitude,
Her 4 kids ❤️
