**********

A major wildfire in our beautiful village of Rhandirmwyn has scorched over 250 hectares, forcing evacuations and triggering a Major Incident.

Farmers, local businesses and residents have been working side-by-side with firefighters to stop the fire spreading and keep our community safe. They are giving everything they have — machinery, vehicles, diesel, tools, food, drink, time, and sheer physical effort — to cut fire breaks, move livestock, support emergency crews and protect homes and land.

The Rhandirmwyn and District Community Association is raising funds for these incredible people. Please donate what you can to support and recognise their work.

Our Relationship to the Community

The RDCA is an unincorporated local community organisation. We are neighbours, friends, and family members of the volunteers on the frontline. We are organizing this appeal on behalf of our close-knit village to help those directly impacted by this disaster.
Visit our websitefor further information, including the RDCA’s constitution and minutes of meetings.

What the funds will be used for

This appeal will provide direct, practical support to the farmers and volunteers who are sustaining the frontline response. Funds will help cover costs directly related to this work, including:
  • Fuel costs (diesel for tractors, ATVs, water bowsers and other machinery used continuously during the incident)
  • Equipment and repairs (chainsaws, fencing tools, hoses, protective gear, and urgent replacement of damaged kit)
  • Food and drink supplies for those working long shifts in dangerous conditions
  • Animal welfare needs (emergency feed, temporary fencing, veterinary checks where required)
  • Recovery and clean up costs once the fire is contained.

How funds will be delivered

To ensure transparency and security, the RDCA committee has appointed RDCA Treasurer Neil Walters as the official beneficiary to manage the bank transfers.
  • All funds raised will be withdrawn directly into the official RDCA Bank Account.
  • The RDCA committee will review receipts and claims from the farmers, local businesses and residents who have been working side by side with firefighters to protect the community — giving their machinery, vehicles, diesel, tools, food, time and physical effort to cut fire breaks, move livestock, support emergency crews and safeguard homes and land.
  • To ensure that support is fair and reflects real needs on the ground, the committee will consult community councillors and representatives from the farming sector, drawing on their local knowledge and sector expertise when assessing claims and prioritising assistance.
  • Funds will be distributed equitably based on transparent, community led decisions, either via bank transfer or by purchasing items directly depending on what each recipient requires.
  • The RDCA will publish a short report afterwards so every donor can see exactly how their contribution helped.
