Help Our Girl Scout Troop Recover From the Eaton Fire
Donation protected
I am the leader of my daughter's 2nd grade Girl Scout troop. Four out of the ten of the kids lost their homes in the Eaton Fire last week and most of the rest of them are still displaced. Their whole world has been changed, and they have no idea what awaits them for the rest of the school year. They attend a low-income public elementary school in Altadena, and while it looks like they will return in the next few weeks, many of their friends and community will not be able to return. Their meeting place at the park, favorite places to sell Girl Scout cookies, hiking trails, etc., are not there anymore. Their main source of funds from cookie sales, which starts next week, will likely be cut short. Some extra funds could help them get supplies that were lost, have some mental health experts work with them as they navigate the next few months, and possibly work on some meaningful service projects for families at the school.
