About us
Without an audience there is no piece - without the people no democracy.
The active participation of the audience is not only important, but essential to the creation of this piece.
Anasazi Bhakti, Anne-Sophie Delmas and Pia Nives Welser are graduates of École Jacques Lecoq in France. Though we hail from different countries, we all use a shared language in how we make theatre. Using movement and object work in our creation we are able to connect more deeply with an international audience.
About the piece
BRANDMAUER opens with the image of a destroyed library and rewinds: how did this happen and who is to be held accountable? How do we as a society behave when our values are under attack? Who decides whose values are “ours”? The piece plays with the tension between the individual and the collective.
Why we are raising funds
We feel lucky to receive this residency at HIN und WEG this year, but are still in need for help in our travel costs to and from the festival. As young international artists residing in the United States and France, we hope this gofundme will allow us to participate at the HIN und WEG festival this year and share our piece BRANDMAUER for the first time.
HIN und WEG Festival 2025
For the HIN und WEG Festival 2025 in Litschau, Austria, we are creating a participatory and experimental performance piece. The starting point of which is to install a direct democratic system by including the audience. During the first weekend of the festival, we will be holding a so-called campfire talk. These discussions make it possible for audience members to interact and directly communicate with the artists performing at the festival. Themes are usually around current topics, our topic will be “How do I participate in democracy?”. The information and opinions gathered at this campfire talk will influence the piece that we will be creating and showing in the following week.
During said week, the audience members are invited to visit our rehearsals. Our rehearsals are open for a reason - we wish to make the process as transparent as possible. Those who visit our rehearsals are not only onlookers, but active participants: there will be a voting system through which the outcome of the play will be determined.
On the second weekend of the festival we will be showing said outcome: BRANDMAUER.
