Our dad was involved in a serious explosion at work which has given him life changing injuries. This resulted in his admission to the critical care unit in Newcastle where we were told he would unlikely make it out and that he was the “sickest person in the hospital” at that time. After a dramatic turn around following a cardiac arrest where we lost him for 8 minutes, our dad regained consciousness and began to grow stronger through the care of ICU staff. After 8 weeks in this unit, he was finally judged fit enough to be moved to a new ward away from critical care where his rehabilitation is ongoing. We would like to support our dad’s ongoing recovery as best we can as he will be entitled to limited financial support for his ongoing rehabilitation once he is back home.
