Help Support Our Dad James “Jimmy” Haines After a Massive Heart Attack

Hi, my name is Jessica and I’m reaching out on behalf of my family during the most difficult time we’ve ever faced. Our dad James Haines recently suffered a massive heart attack that turned our world upside down.

He was airlifted by helicopter to a larger hospital where doctors discovered severe heart damage, multiple clots, and dangerously low heart function. He has already undergone several emergency procedures, including having 2 separate intra-aortic balloon pumps inserted to keep his heart pumping. After the removal of the first intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) came serious complications as his organs began shutting down and loosing circulation to his legs and feet. Doctors had to act fast and insert a second balloon pump to stabilize him. His condition remains extremely critical, and he is now in need of a VCAD (ventricular assist device) pump to survive. Some people are eligible for a minimal invasive procedure to insert VCAD but his will be done through open heart surgery.

Our dad is an owner operator truck driver, a hard working man who has always taken care of his family. He doesn’t have health insurance, and the medical bills from the helicopter transport, surgeries, and continued care are already overwhelming. On top of that, he won’t be able to work for the foreseeable future as he focuses on recovering and hopefully receiving further treatment.

He is the heart of our family, literally and figuratively. He’s a loving husband, father to two children, and proud grandfather to seven beautiful grandkids who adore him. We want him to get every possible chance at healing, and we’re asking for your help to make that happen.

Looking ahead, he may become eligible for a heart transplant if he can remain stable and meet certain medical requirements. It’s a long, uncertain road, but we’re holding onto faith and hope.

• Emergency medical expenses and hospital care

• Life saving equipment and procedures (including the VCAD pump)

• Ongoing cardiac rehab and support

• Basic needs and bills while he is out of work
