Help Support Our Children's Literature Colleague

Recently, our colleague Melissa McCoul, PhD was fired from her position as a Senior Lecturer at the Texas A & M University for teaching LGBTQ+ content and "gender ideology" in her children's literature courses. She has been target of various organizations and the current administration in their efforts to increase moral panic surrounding discourses on gender, sexuality, and identity. We are appalled and disgusted by these actions, which not only threaten the livelihood of thinkers and teachers in the humanities but severely impact the ability for students to learn about different ways of being and relating to one another.

We have established this fundraiser to help Melissa deal with essential needs, healthcare, and legal assistance during this time. Please join us in supporting her, and please make sure to join in community as we develop strategies for dealing with the ongoing issues we face.
