Help support Omar and his family while he fights depression

We write this with much humility and vulnerability. Omar has been out of work for six weeks and was not cleared to return to work for at least two more weeks. We applied for short-term disability and were denied because they do not hold mental health crises in much regard. We are asking for help so that we may take care of our family’s basic needs (rent, bills, food). If we had any other means to pay for these items we wouldn’t be asking, but we need help.
Omar has been serving this community through his job in healthcare as well as through the church for over ten years. Anyone who has an encounter with him can quickly grasp that he is a truly kind, compassionate, and genuine human being. Our family is often told of incredible encounters that individuals have had with Omar and how he made them feel safe and cared for in a time of great need. He cares for all humans in a way that is so rare of most people we usually encounter.
As a long-term sufferer of depression, Omar recently experienced a trigger from a former trauma that has put him in a position where he is not stable enough to work. He started EMDR therapy to help him overcome, not only this trigger but all of his past trauma. EMDR is an incredibly effective way of healing people from trauma and helping them to significantly decrease their symptoms as well as medication use. His EMDR provider decided that he was not currently stable enough to continue this therapy and she recommended him to come back once he is. We are currently working with his provider, counselor, and a new psychiatrist to get him in a position where is stable enough to work and also to receive the EMDR therapy.
More than anything, our family needs prayer for healing and blessings. We are incredibly thankful to anyone willing to assist us in this very difficult time.
