Help Support Nikki Green's Battle Against Metastatic Cancer

Hello, my name is Erin Krupke and I'm starting this GoFundMe for my sister Nikki Green.

Some of you may be familiar with our family and may know that Nikki is a 2x cancer survivor already! She had breast cancer the first time when she was just 29 years old! Most recently, in 2022-23, she was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer and underwent a mastectomy, radiation, chemo, and immunotherapies for well over the course of 2 years. She had a few clear scans after those treatments, but devastatingly, Nikki has recently been informed her triple-negative breast cancer has returned and now has metastasized to her lungs and some lymph nodes.

As you can imagine, this has been the hardest of news for our family, and most of all, for Nikki. Nikki is about to begin her latest chemotherapies this week and unfortunately, she will have to travel over an hour each way to her treatments at the hospital every week, sometimes several times a week for appointments as well. This is very hard on her physically and financially, with the costs of gas, food, medicines, etc., and the long hours at the hospital take a toll on her. Then with her treatments, she is often very ill and unable to return to her home. She is always welcome to stay with us overnight (when no one in our house is ill, as she has no immune system), but often Nikki needs to stay at a hotel near the hospital in case she needs to go to the ER for adverse effects and more support. We are here to support and try our best to help Nikki in any way we can. Unfortunately, most of our family lives in Minnesota, Iowa, and Ohio, with only my family, myself, and Nikki living down here on the Gulf Coast. So this means Nikki goes to her treatments alone (as I always have my son, and children aren't allowed in the chemo rooms), and we are both just barely scraping by financially. Nikki only receives SSI as she has been very ill for many years and unable to work.

I'm hoping by starting this GoFundMe, to alleviate some of the financial burdens for Nikki so she can focus on her health. Any amount you could donate adds up! Even $5 can help so much if you are able! This will be an ongoing treatment for Nikki, and we are unsure exactly how long she will be receiving treatments, so any money received will be going toward her gas, travel, food, hotels, any meds or supplies she may need that aren't covered by insurance, and even possibly money to help afford for a famlily member to be able to come down for a while if needed to help drive her, take her to appointments, and be there while she is unwell. This could help offset the cost of another person living with her and for them to take time off their work to come down.

Nikki has always been a fighter and full of life. She is a beautiful, strong, funny, and loving mom,aunt, sister, niece, daughter, and grandma! She is very loved and cared about.
