Hi my name is Gail Barry and I am starting this fundraiser in the hope of helping my beautiful niece Nicole get the support she needs for medical expenses as she endures several dialysis treatments and procedures while she waits for a much needed kidney transplant. Due to these conditions she has been out of work since February.

This all started when she was diagnosed with COVID on February 23rd. On March 2nd, she was admitted to the hospital with difficulty breathing and was placed in ICU. She was on a ventilator for 8 days, after which she recovered in the hospital for 6 weeks. During this time, she learned that COVID had deteriorated the condition of her kidneys, now requiring dialysis 3 times per week.

The ventilator caused severe damage to her vocal cords, creating an obstruction, causing her airway to close up. She had laser surgery to repair the damage but it was unsuccessful.

A few weeks later Nicole developed pneumonia which made her very weak. She went through several weeks of physical therapy but saw no improvement to her health.

Most recently, on September 3rd, Nicole was rushed to the hospital and admitted to the trauma ICU as her breathing situation became critical. A trach was inserted and a week later she had another throat surgery in the attempt to remove the obstruction.

She is now home recovering and is waiting to be placed on the kidney transplant list.

Nicole has a long road ahead of her and we are praying that she will get the transplant that she needs and can fully recover.
