On October 5, 2007 I was blessed with my beautiful daughter Nevaeh weighing 2 pounds 12 ounces. She was unfortunately three months premature. So for the first three months of her life, she fought for her life. Nevaeh spent the beginning of her life in three different hospitals breathing with the help of a ventilator and being tube fed. I was beyond thrilled when I was able to take her home. As a single mother, I was thankful that my father helped Nevaeh and I out alot, for she required many test and check-ups with her doctor and specialists.
At 14 months old, Nevaeh was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy Spastic Diplegia: a form of Cerebral Palsy (CP) that is a chronic neuromuscular condition of hypertonia and spasticity--manifested as an especially high and constant "tightness" or "stiffness" -in the muscles or the lower extremities of the human body, usually of the legs. For Nevaeh, this condition has been quite severe.
Over the years Nevaeh has needed specialized equipment to help her with everyday movement from the time she wakes up till she goes to sleep. She wears AFO's and walks with crutches or a walker. Nevaeh's physiotherapist and occupational therapist have been wonderful and supportive over the years supporting and helping us find ways to improve her mobility. Life for my amazing resilient daughter has been busy with medical appointments, specialized exercise regimes and treatments that have been recommended to improve her independent mobility.
On June 1, 2018 Nevaeh underwent a multi-lever surgical procedure: bilateral varus derotation ostomies of the femur, bilateral percutaneous adductor releases, bilateral botox to the medial hamstring and bilateral open gastric recession. The goals were to allow nevaeh to be independent with ambulation with forearm crutches indoors, running with reverse walker outdoors and her return to her baseline function. Following this surgical procedure, Nevaeh had to remain as an in-patient at Sunnyhill for an extended period of healing and strengthening. Following this, Nevaeh needed to do more exercises and therapy to help reach the goals laid out for her.
On October 23, 2020 Nevaeh had another surgery to remove plates in her hips which were causing her pain at least 90% of the time she was mobilizing. I have continued searching for ways to help my daughter to lead a life that allows her to be pain free, mobile and independent. In my search, I learned about an orthopedic surgeon in New Jersey, USA who is Pediatric Orthopedic doctor who specializes in Pediatric Neuromuscular surgical procedure such as what my daughter Nevaeh needs.
In my research with this doctor I have been in contact with other patients who have been to this surgeon and have experienced success from the procedure he has performed on them. With this in mind, Dr. Nuzzo has a surgical procedure planned that best fits Nevaeh's situation that unfortunately I cannot afford the cost of the surgery on my own.

We are asking for donations to help cover the cost of her surgery and facility fee. Having this surgery done will give my beautiful daughter Nevaeh more mobility and balance to walking on her own without the use of crutches or a walker, although she has been born with this disability, my daughter has been such a trooper, a positive thinker with a great sense of humour and loves to joke around just like her grandpa. She always tells me "laughter is vitamin C, it's good for you" .
My family and I would like to thank you in advance for your support, her surgery is March 31st and April 1st in New Jersey. It is coming up fast. If you are unable to donate, we would also appreciate your help by sharing my daughter's story with others on all social media platforms. God bless and thank you for your support.
