Help Support Nathan Salley Through Beating Cancer… Again
Donation protected
Dear Family and Friends,
Finding the right words to begin this letter has been difficult. I still can’t believe that Nathan is facing cancer again. Many of you know Nathan personally, while others know him through me or my parents and have followed his cancer journey since he was a child. Regardless of how you’ve come to know him, thank you for taking the time to read this and sit with our request.
As many of you are aware, Nathan has had the audacity to once again be diagnosed with a rare form of cancer—because, of course, he can't be basic, so annoying of him. It feels surreal and frustrating for sure.
Each of you has faced your own battles, and I want you to know that as we invite you into ours, our hearts are tender toward your struggles, too. Cancer has impacted Nathan in many ways, but he remains the richest person I know. Over the years, one of the most precious gifts our family has received through this journey has been a deep understanding of what true community looks like. I’ve been a witness to it—watching people love Nathan and our family so well has been nothing short of holy.
It’s hard to receive help, but watching the generosity and kindness of others has had a profound impact on me. In the sharing our burden, we hope to feel a little lighter ourselves. Nathan and I have long valued deep and meaningful friendships and understood the importance of fostering community. Some of you have kindly offered financial support as Nathan faces this next battle, and for that, we are incredibly grateful.
To make it easier for those who want to help, we’ve set up a GoFundMe page. Your financial support will give Nathan the freedom and peace of mind to focus on healing. He’ll be stepping away from work next week for an unknown period of time while he undergoes treatment. Although we don’t know the full financial impact of this, we do know that your support will alleviate much of the stress.
Your donations will help cover medical deductibles, co-pays, prescriptions and the cost of traveling to Denver on occasion to meet with his primary cancer team. It will also allow Nathan to continue living independently, without the need for a roommate, which is important for a number of reasons—chief among them, sparing someone from his relentless cancer jokes. More importantly, having a space for our family to stay when we visit will make a huge difference.
Additional funds would also allow Nathan house cleaning or help with meals when needed, offering relief and nourishment . Even an outing that brings him joy when he needs it most would be a way to give and bless him.
Whether you choose to support Nathan through prayer, financial donations, meals, visits, phone calls, or simply by reading his CaringBridge posts, know that it all feels like an extravagant gift, and we appreciate it deeply. I wish I could hug each one of you. We continue to believe that God is good, even now. He hates cancer, loves Nathan, and is with us all the time, helping us find the light in these difficult times.
With gratitude,
Megan (Nathan’s Sister)
