Nasrin Nadiry is an Afghan woman and former university student who is seeking safety after surviving multiple targeted attacks on educational institutions in Afghanistan. She belongs to the Hazara community, an ethnic and religious minority that has faced sustained violence and persecution over many years.

While pursuing her education in western Kabul, Nasrin survived several bombings targeting students. These attacks caused serious physical injuries and the loss of classmates. Despite these experiences, she continued her education and remained engaged in civic and human rights activities focused on women’s rights and access to education.

Following the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, Nasrin’s identity as a Hazara woman and her prior civic involvement placed her at heightened risk. Members of her family were questioned about her whereabouts, and the family was forced to relocate due to ongoing threats. Returning to Afghanistan would expose her to serious and foreseeable harm.

Nasrin is currently displaced outside Afghanistan with no legal right to work and extremely limited access to healthcare or financial support. She is in the process of seeking protection through UNHCR and pursuing a lawful, long-term resettlement pathway to Canada through community-based refugee sponsorship.

This fundraiser is being organized to support sponsorship-related requirements and coordination efforts for Nasrin’s case. Funds raised will help cover costs associated with documentation preparation, sponsorship requirements, and coordination through trusted partner organizations.
