Help support Nancy in her battle with cancer

In February of 2022, my boyfriend's incredible mother, Nancy, was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Nancy has been so strong and courageous this past year, to call her a fighter would be an understatement. She has endured multiple forms of treatments, radiation, pain medications, and several scans and exams to figure out the best course of action to extend her time here with her family as long as possible. Nancy was unexpectedly hospitalized recently after a bowel obstruction where we received the devastating news that in the last month alone, the cancer has spread to several organs in her body (stomach, colon, liver, intestines, and abdominal cavity). This means we are back to the drawing board and her oncologists are working with her to find the best course of action for treatment moving forward. Despite several setbacks, Nancy continues to stay brave for herself and her family and is determined to keep fighting this cancer in any way she can.

Nancy’s diagnosis has made it impossible for her to continue working so unfortunately she and her husband, John, are living on one income, which I think we can all agree is damn near impossible for anyone these days, but especially when you add in the added expenses of battling cancer. Along with having to leave the workforce, Nancy had no choice but to change insurance providers, starting over with an extremely high deductible that resets annually. Between several hospital and medical bills, outrageous out of pocket and pharmaceutical costs, while trying to financially prepare for the future and keep up with their normal bills and expenses, Nancy and John are extremely overwhelmed with financial obligations. Nancy recently said to me, “I don’t think people realize how grossly expensive it is to have cancer until you or a loved one are diagnosed with it”, and that really resonated with me, as I hope it does with all of you.
