I've recently been diagnosed with severe/chronic pilonidal disease. It's very painful, debilitating, embarrassing, and puts a halt to your life. Mild pilonidal disease can be managed with warm soaks, apple cider vinegar, and warm compresses. Chronic pilonidal disease must be managed by more aggressive methods like antibiotics, lancing, and draining. The only way to truly cure chronic pilonidal disease is to get surgery - which is the next step in my recommended care.
