On the evening of 24 June 2026, Venezuela was shaken by two powerful earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, just 39 seconds apart. These were the strongest earthquakes the country has experienced in over a century.

The impact has been devastating. Buildings have collapsed, homes have been destroyed, and thousands of families have been forced to flee. Rescue teams are still working tirelessly, searching through the rubble as the death toll continues to rise. So far, more than 1,400 lives have been lost, over 3,200 people have been injured, and many are now left without a place to call home.

Sadly, my own family has been affected. My sister and her family had to leave everything behind. Thankfully, they made it out alive.

While we are incredibly grateful for their safety, they are now facing the difficult reality of rebuilding their home and their lives.

En la noche del 24 de junio de 2026, Venezuela fue sacudida por dos poderosos terremotos de magnitudes 7.2 y 7.5, ocurridos con apenas 39 segundos de diferencia. Fueron los terremotos más fuertes que ha experimentado el país en más de un siglo.

El impacto ha sido devastador. Edificios se han derrumbado, viviendas han quedado destruidas y miles de familias se han visto obligadas a abandonar sus hogares. Los equipos de rescate continúan trabajando incansablemente, buscando entre los escombros mientras el número de víctimas sigue aumentando. Hasta el momento, más de 1,400 personas han perdido la vida, más de 3,200 han resultado heridas y muchas se han quedado sin un lugar al que llamar hogar.

Lamentablemente, mi propia familia también ha sido afectada. Mi hermana y su familia tuvieron que dejarlo todo atrás. Gracias a Dios, lograron salir con vida.

Aunque estamos inmensamente agradecidos de que estén a salvo, ahora enfrentan la difícil realidad de reconstruir su hogar y comenzar de nuevo.
