Help Support My Senior Thesis Film

This spring, I will be shooting my Senior Thesis Film, which is a culmination of my last 4 years at Hofstra University. I have spent the last few months, writing, budgeting, and producing the film, and now it is time to raise the funds needed. The budget of $5,000 will go towards location fees, travel and food expenses for cast and crew, props, and casting.
Filmmaking is something I knew I wanted to do all the way back in 7th grade when I took my first communications class. I've been obsessed with everything about it ever since, from theory to production. I made films and music videos with friends and began diving into arthouse cinema in my freetime. I was lucky enough to be accepted to Hofstra, which is home to one of the best film programs in the country. It was here where I met some of my closest friends and did my best work. Now, I have the chance to show everything I've learned.
The inspiration for Last Call is one that came into existence for me in the past year, after finding out my father was diagnosed with an illness that has forced him to make certain lifestyle changes. Simple things that we used to enjoy doing together became much more difficult, whether it was sharing a drink together or going to a sporting event. A beer with my dad became a beer and a seltzer, tailgate BBQs became sodium-free turkey sandwiches and veggie burgers.
I want to tell the story of that inevitable moment of having to eventually say farewell. The focus though is not the goodbye itself, it is the acceptance of the situation and the ability to use the strength of your relationship to get through it. My dad’s sense of humor and ability to keep things light in even the most upsetting situations is something I’ve always admired and something I definitely want to highlight. Sometimes things don’t need to be said to be understood.
The film follows Matt, a middle aged man living in a small home with his wife and children. He goes to visit his father and share one final drink together after learning that his dad's chemo is no longer working. The two talk about sports, beer, and family, all while acknowledging that this is goodbye.
I know this film and everything that preceded it would not be possible without the support of my friends and family. Any donation would be greatly appreciated, as all of you play an important role in the telling of this story.
