Help Support my Mom’s Fight against Stage 4 TNBC
Donation protected
Back in August 2023, my mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 TNBC. It definitely came as a shock, but the shock didn’t stop as she was laid off shortly thereafter. To say the road after that was difficult would be an understatement. From all of the procedures, to chemo 3 times a month and immunotherapy once a month, she still found the energy to spend as much time with her grandson as she could. My mom is such a boy mom. She grew up with 5 older brothers, had two sons (and all of the friends we had growing up she let live with her when they needed a place to stay), and now one grandson.
Things got complicated last summer when the cancer moved to her brain and she needed to get a craniotomy. That was such a tough, tough stretch for everybody. She made it through, though.
Without a spouse and 2 years from the age she could go on Medicare when she was diagnosed, my mom was depending on a small income that she used as long as she could to afford the townhome she’s been in for 25 years. Without a house to sell, she’ll be moving in with my family at the end of July. Things got a little more complicated when she unexpectedly lost Medicaid in May (she got no warning), meaning all of her chemo and appointments (including a brain radiation treatment) were not covered, leaving her with $15k in bills just from May. Her new coverage started June 1 (thank goodness). It’s unfair that she has to worry about her medical bills when she’s been battling so hard and for so long. I want her to enjoy the moments she can and not have to stress.
Anything from this GoFundMe will go towards my mom’s medical bills, moving expenses, etc. Anything will help. Even if you can’t afford anything, messages and comments go a long way.
Thanks for reading.
