Help Support My Father’s Fight Against Cancer

Hello everyone,

My name is Julissa Luera and I am creating this GoFundMe page for my father, Gabriel Luera Sr. He is a loving 72-year-old widowed husband and father who has lived a very memorable and beautiful life. He loves fishing, camping, dancing, living his life for his late wife, children and grandchildren, family and friends. He truly has a zest for life.

In 2023, everything seemed to be fine. He was enjoying his normal life, spending time with his family and friends, but in August he started feeling unwell. After getting a blood test, we found out that something was wrong. After having numerous blood test, the results that came back and found to be abnormal that required further testing (not yet knowing what diagnosis was about to be unveiled) and since then, he has been hospitalized for the past six weeks receiving treatments to stabilize his health.

After three weeks of testing, we finally know the diagnosis. Unfortunately, my father has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia also known as AML and or cancer in the bone marrow. He is currently receiving treatment in Houston at MD Anderson Cancer Center, it’s been so overwhelming and has been a tough blow for the whole family. Everything just happened to fast. We are doing everything we can to help him fight this disease, but the cost of treatment is overwhelming. As many of you know, cancer treatments are expensive and can deplete anyone's savings in a short time. Due to the family's economic situation, we are in need of your help to finance my father's treatment.

Any donation, no matter how small, or even sharing this message, will be greatly appreciated and will help my father in his fight against this disease. We appreciate your support and prayers during this difficult time for our family. My father has been an exceptional person, a great husband and father to his four children, and four grandchildren. It will be a blessing to have him with us for many more years.
