Hi everyone,

My name is Korey, and for those of you who’ve had the pleasure of knowing my dad, you know just how special he is. I’m reaching out today on behalf of him and my stepmom, Theresa, to ask for a little help during an incredibly difficult time.

On September 6th, my dad was admitted to Henry Ford Jackson Hospital, where he spent 10 days undergoing tests as doctors tried to figure out what was wrong. On September 16th, he was airlifted to Henry Ford Detroit, where he was diagnosed with end-stage heart failure.

After many consultations and tests, it was determined that he would need either a heart transplant or an LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device) to survive. Because waiting for a donor heart wasn’t an option, the decision was made to go ahead with the LVAD procedure, which took place on September 30th.

Since the surgery, he’s been having a hard time getting off the ventilator. While doctors are hopeful and say his progress looks good, it’s a slow and challenging recovery.

Throughout this entire time, Theresa, my sister Kara, and I have been by his side. We've seen firsthand how much our presence helps him through the rough moments — and we wouldn't be anywhere else. But staying near the hospital has come with significant expenses: hotel stays, food, gas, and time away from work — not to mention the long-term costs that will come with his recovery and ongoing care, including the supplies and equipment he’ll need to live day to day with the LVAD.

We’re doing everything we can to support him, but the financial burden is heavy. If you’re able to help in any way — whether it’s through a donation, sharing this page, or keeping us in your thoughts — we would be forever grateful.
