My name is Frankie Downing, and I am doing something that I never imagined myself having to do - I am reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your support during an incredibly difficult time for my family. My father, Ron Downing, has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer after battling Cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive cancer of the bile ducts. Since his diagnosis in November 2023, our lives have been turned upside down for the worse. We had hoped and prayed for a miracle, with the only potential cure being a full liver transplant. Sadly, we were informed a few weeks ago that the cancer has spread to his lymph nodes before he was able undergo a transplant, making him ineligible for this life-saving procedure. The doctors have given us the heartbreaking news that my dad has, at most, three months left to live.
My dad is the most hardworking, determined, and dedicated person that I know. However, after his terminal diagnosis, he has made the decision to retire early in order to live out his final days with me doing the things that we love most. As his only child, I am doing everything I can to support him, but the financial burden is looming. We need help to cover mounting medical bills following his treatment, daily living expenses, and to ensure that I have some financial stability after he passes away. My Dad's final paycheck from his employer ends with his retirement on June 15, with no additional revenue available or coming in.
Our situation is particularly challenging because my mom, his late wife, passed away in a car accident when I was just a month old. The funds raised will not only help us manage our immediate expenses but also provide a safety net for me as I navigate life without both of my parents.
