On July 14th, my brother Fabian went to the ER for a headache that he had for about a week straight. They did a CT scan and found out that it was a very large brain tumor. He was taken to St Mary's ER early the next day in Grand Junction. They admitted him and scheduled him for brain surgery the next day. When they preformed surgery, they found out it was a large abscess and drained it. It had caused so much swelling and inflammation in his brain that it affected the left side of his body. It also affected his speech and balance. After being released from St. Mary's hospital he was sent to the Montrose Rehabilitation Center. He is now doing intense physical, speech and occupational therapy. He will be released to go home on July 30th. He will have to have a home health nurse come to the house every day to give him IV antibiotics to make sure that the inflammation is alleviated. It is not known how long this will have to continue. He has a long road of recovery ahead, and we do not expect him to be released to go back to work for at least 8 months to a year. My brother Fabian is a fighter and will put everything he has into full recovery.
Unfortunately, the company that my brother works for is too small to have offered short term disability. With their current outstanding bills, without some help, he will lose his house and potentially his vehicles. With two small children still at home, this would be devastating.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Fabian's older brother, Tony Finn.
