Help Support Ms. Doris Pierce

When Ms. Doris walks into a room, she gets noticed. In fact, before you see Ms. Doris, you’re bound to hear her infectious laughter, hear her commanding voice, and feel her warmth. Our family - and many other families- count ourselves as fortunate to have had Ms. Doris as our daughter’s daycare teacher. She taught our daughter more than the her numbers, the alphabet, songs, and rhymes. She helped potty train her, helped us prevent and manage her tantrums, but most importantly provided a loving and safe environment in her classroom. We love Ms. Doris and consider her part of our family.

Last year she was diagnosed with cancer of the uterus and underwent chemotherapy. Despite undergoing arduous chemotherapy treatments during the COVID pandemic, she was an essential worker: she still went to work and taught our daughter and many other children. She even FaceTimed with them while getting chemotherapy — such is her dedication to them. She achieved remission several months ago, but unfortunately has recently received some devastating news. The cancer has returned and it has spread. There is no cure. She is receiving comfort, palliative care.

We are heartbroken for her and her family, including an 18-yo daughter, a 14-yo daughter, and a 6-yo son. We have set up this fundraiser to raise funds to cover expenses that she and her family are incurring while she is unable to work: medical expenses, transportation, and living expenses for herself and her children. All donations will go directly to Ms. Doris to help offset the financial burden of this unimaginable situation.
