We’re raising funds for my beautiful sister-in-law, Monika, who has recently been diagnosed with invasive bilateral breast cancer. At just 39 years old, Monika now faces the unimaginable: a double mastectomy, followed by further treatments that are still being determined.

Monika is a devoted mother to two young children — Max (7) and Wini (2) — and a loving wife to Chris. She is also a beloved daughter, sister, friend, and dedicated educator who has spent her career working in childcare, nurturing and supporting hundreds of children and families with endless patience and care. Now, it’s our turn to care for her.

Moni has always been proactive about her health. Living with type 1 diabetes, coeliac disease, and other chronic health conditions, she has developed a deep awareness of her body. Earlier this year, she noticed changes in what initially appeared to be normal breast tissue. Her vigilance and quick action led to the heartbreaking diagnosis of breast cancer.

Throughout this journey, Monika has shown incredible strength, but the reality is, this diagnosis brings with it a heavy financial burden. As she undergoes surgery and treatment, she’ll be unable to work, leaving the family to rely on a single income.

We are hoping to raise $10,000 to help support Mon, Chris, and their kids during this incredibly difficult time.

Funds will go toward:

• Household bills and general living expenses

• Cleaning and in-home help during Monika’s recovery

• Meal and fresh produce delivery to ease the daily load

• Additional costs related to treatment and care
