Four years ago, our mom received a diagnosis that changed everything — stage 4 metastatic lung cancer. From that day forward, she bravely faced countless treatments, scans, and appointments in Sayre, PA.
Despite being told she would live with cancer for the rest of her life, Mom continued to fight with unwavering strength and faith. We received the miracle we’d been praying for — there was no longer any evidence of cancer. Then, on April 29th, 2025 Mom received her last cancer treatment.
But just as we began to exhale, life threw us another curve. On April 8th — Mom and Dad’s shared birthday — Mom was rushed to the hospital with symptoms that looked like a stroke. Thankfully, it wasn’t a stroke, but a severe infection, something she’s battled off and on for years.
Over the next several months, Mom spent more days in the hospital than at home, due to the infection. Her “home days” were filled with IV antibiotics and regular nurse visits. She even spent time in a rehab facility in Towanda, PA, to help regain strength. Unfortunately, her health struggles kept her from spending holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries with her family — every major milestone since has been spent in a hospital room.
Then, on October 19th, another setback — Dad came home to find Mom in excruciating pain from a broken femur. The next day, she underwent surgery to repair the break. Since then, she’s been in the hospital and rehab, struggling with severe pain that has slowed her progress.
As of November 1st, she was transferred to Westchester Medical in Poughkeepsie, NY, where she can receive the higher level of care she now needs.
This long, ongoing journey has placed a heavy financial burden on our family. Between mounting medical expenses and daily travel costs, it’s been incredibly difficult. We’re also preparing to modify their home to make things safer and more comfortable for Mom — including creating a first-floor bedroom and purchasing medical equipment like a new bed.
In lieu of an in-person fundraiser, we’re launching this GoFundMe to help ease some of these burdens. If you’re able to give — whether through a donation, sharing this page, or sending prayers and encouragement — it would mean the world to us. Any amount, big or small, will go directly toward these expenses.
We’re hopeful that with the care she’s now receiving at Westchester, Mom will finally be on the road to recovery. It’s been a long and challenging journey, but we continue to thank God for every bit of progress, every moment together, and every friend and family member who has stood by our side.
From the bottom of our hearts — thank you for your love, prayers, and support.
