Help Support Molly's Fight Against Ovarian Cancer
Donation protected
Hi friends and family,
My name is Amelia Byrd, and I’m the youngest of three girls blessed to have two incredible parents, Wendy and Casey Byrd. In May 2024, our family faced a heartbreaking and life-changing event.
Over Mother’s Day weekend, my older sister Molly went to the emergency room with severe symptoms of abdominal pain and ended up staying in the hospital for nearly two weeks. After countless scans, tests, and medical procedures, Molly — at just 23 years old — was diagnosed with Stage 3C Low Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer. LGSOC is a very rare form of cancer, especially at 23 years old.
Since then, Molly has endured unimaginable challenges. She bravely underwent two major surgeries where doctors removed her ovaries and fallopian tubes and two lower portions of her colon. She also went through several rounds of egg retrieval in the hopes of preserving her dream of one day starting a family. In pursuit of the best possible care, she and our mom traveled to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Texas, one of the top cancer hospitals in the country, whom gave her the current opinion as Fred Hutch Cancer Center here in Seattle, where Molly continues her fight against this disease. If at any point Molly’s current treatment plan stops working here in Seattle, she will start traveling to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Texas, where they have additional treatment options for her.
The past several months have brought:
2 emergency room visits
Major, life-altering surgeries
Intensive fertility treatments and preservation
Ongoing chemotherapy and lifestyle changes to fight the disease
While Molly’s spirit remains strong, the emotional, physical, and financial toll has been overwhelming. Medical expenses, travel costs, and the need for ongoing care and support are adding up quickly.
We are humbly asking for help to ease the financial burden so Molly can focus entirely on healing and reclaiming her bright future. Every donation — no matter the size — means the world to us and will directly support Molly’s treatment, recovery, and long-term health.
Thank you for reading, supporting, and walking alongside Molly and our family during this incredibly difficult time. We are forever grateful for your love, prayers, and generosity.
With love,
The Byrd Family
