Anyone who knows Mitchell, knows he is a hard worker, someone who loves and cares deeply for people, someone with a contagious smile and laugh and someone who loves everything and anything outdoors.
Over the last several years Mitchell has battled with mental health and addiction. Often, we look at addiction and we just want to say “stop it!” But we have seen first-hand what addiction is, “a psychological and physical inability to stop consuming a chemical, drug, activity, or substance, even though it is causing psychological and physical harm.” As a family we have watched the internal battle Mitchell has fought every single day of wanting so badly to “stop it.” We’ve seen the battle; we’ve seen the struggle.
Since his junior year in high school Mitchell has been to various inpatient or outpatient treatment centers but has relapsed on many occasions. If you know Mitchell’s story, you know that the beginning of 2020 Mitchell was all in for Christ, he was going strong, but just like any of us, he began to slowly let down his guard and quickly began to open the doors to some of his old lifestyle. With this year already being such a trying time for many people we began to see him spiraling out of control to the point he would just weep because he wasn’t happy with his life or the choices that he was making. He was filling the void in his life with substances which led to severe depression and it got to a point that as a family we didn’t know if the next time he walked out the door would be the last time.
We know that God is not done with Mitchell yet. We know that what the enemy has meant for harm, God can use it for good and we are believing that over Mitchell’s life. In June, Mitchell was able to get into Adult & Teen Challenge of the Midlands. Their mission statement reads that they exist to be a catalyst for 180-degree life change in the addict. Adult and Teen challenge is a 12-month faith based residential program that will give Mitchell the structure and tools to overcome his battles with addiction that will last him a lifetime!
Addict does not define Mitchell. He’s our son, a grandson, a brother, a nephew, a friend and most importantly he’s a CHILD of GOD! We believe this moment in his life can be a pivotal life altering change for the rest of his life and it starts today! We have seen so many people cheering for him and believing in him when he couldn’t see it or believe in himself.

His family has committed that 100% of all funds that come in will go toward his treatment and if more comes in beyond the cost of treatment at Teen Challenge, they will donate the remaining balance to Teen Challenge of the Midlands as gift for others that need treatment.
