Help Support Missy's Fight

Donation protected

This GoFundMe has been organized for Missy, her fiance Blake (my son) and their daughter my little mermaid princess granddaughter Kate.

On Sunday February the 4th, Missy was taken to the ER suffering from severe head pain, confusion, difficulty breathing, walking, and speaking. The ER doctor ordered a CT scan which revealed a large mass in her right frontal lobe.

The finding was very difficult for Missy,Blake and the entire family. Missy is a two time cancer survivor the last being in 2020. Missy was transported after the finding to another hospital that had a neurologist. There they ordered an MRI that revealed high levels of swelling of Missy's brain. The doctors said they would need to perform an emergency craniotomy to remove the mass and relieve the swelling, but before or during the surgery Missy had a massive hemorrhagic stroke.

Following the surgery her pressure in her brain was extremely high, they performed another surgery to put drains in her skull to drain fluid on the brain to bring down the swelling. The first week we didn't know if Missy would survive. It was revealed that the mass wasn't cancer, but a brain abscess, multiple in her right frontal lobe. They were successful in draining the abscesses. The MRI post surgery showed Missy had more than just the first initial stroke. Missy had multiple strokes to her right region that control her consciousness and many other motor abilities. It was also later revealed that the abscesses infection was bacterial and stemmed from Missy's teeth. Missy had radiation treatment following her surgery for cancer in 2020 and has had dental issues ever since. Which is what is believed to have caused the brain infection.

In all the doctors said Missy probably wouldn't make it and gave a small chance at living. The doctors told Blake if she did make it her neurological prognosis would be dire. Blake was put in contact with hospice and prepared for the worst.

Missy is a fighter having overcome cancer twice once when she was only 21 years of age and her latest in 2020. The cancer Missy had was a rare type that affected her sinus glands. The radiation Missy had following has taken a toll on her health ever since, leaving her disabled. Her life has been ever more difficult since losing both her father and mother in 2018 and 2019. Missy was 6 months pregnant with her daughter Kate when her mother passed away from cancer and the stress took a toll on Missy's health. When Kate was just 8 months old Missy found out her cancer was back and more advanced then the first time. Blake and Kate have been her crutch in these difficult times and so has many other family members.

Missy's outcome is unknown at this time, it has been a month since her brain surgery and she is in a vegetative state and has been on a ventilator ever since, but today the doctors tested her breathing and for the first time she is breathing on her own. The doctors have said each case is different and she may recover but will take many months if not years to fully recover. Doctors have also told us that she may never gain full conciseness and if so may never be able to walk on her own or have the ability to speak. Missy's vision is also in question and it will take many months to know what her medical outcome will be.

We will not give up on Missy and believe she needs time to heal. She has started opening her eyes as well as squeezing hands, first with her right and now with her left hand. Blake has also observed her moving her legs.

Missy needs a long term care facility, which isn't covered by her insurance once she is more stable if she can't get into a long-term care facility she will be moved home with Blake and Kate. She is still on a ventilator and is still receiving antibiotics for her infections to her brain and lungs. Since being on a vent for over a month it has caused lung issues.

Family has stepped up to help Kate(4) as Blake travels to and from the hospital to see Missy. Kate has been asking about her Mommy and is told she has an "owie" and will see her soon.

Please pray for Missy and family and please consider donating to help aid Missy's recovery. Missy has medical bills not covered by insurance on top of needing a long term care facility. Any donations will also help pay for travel, groceries and anything Missy will need on her long road to recovery. We want to give her the best chance at recovery and we believe in miracles through prayer. Any help will help lessen the burden and stress on Blake's part as he cares for Missy and Kate

I will continue to update you all as I receive more information on Missy. Thank you all in advance for any and all prayers and donations in this difficult time.
