As Mother’s Day is approaching my siblings and I are very excited that our mother is coming home! On May 12th our mom will finally be back home with our family! All Praise and Glory be to God! As most of you may know that our lives changed drastically on October 1,2020 when my mother slipped and fell down a flight of stairs while we were on our annual family vacation in Gatlinburg, TN. The fall was very traumatic leaving our mom paralyzed from her waist down due to the C4 and C5 spinal nerves and vertebrae damage. Once the doctor called me in and told me this very sad/bad news I was in a stage of shock, no emotions or nothing, I just felt numb. The emotions didn’t hit me until I called my family to give them the update and I could hear everyone crying! In the midst of me trying to be comforting and positive as I explained to them that mom is temporarily paralyzed and the doctors are saying she will never gain her mobility -that’s when reality kicked in for me.
Our mother has been at the Shepherd Rehabilitation facility in Atlanta Georgia
for 7 months. This has been the longest 7 months of our lives especially with COVID-19 restrictions, but my mom is most definitely my hero and her strength is contagious in-spite of every medical obstacle she has faced-she persevered and she is very determined. She shows up every single day ready for the challenge while understanding her limitations-which she hasn’t let them stop her. My mom is very strong and very determined to be back to her independent self! So, if you would like to bless our mother, help us with medical expenses, and or contribute toward making her life back to normal as possible any donation big or small will be greatly appreciated!!!
