Help Support Mike Macdougall in His Time of Need

Donation protected
Dear friends and community,

I’m reaching out to you today with a heavy heart to share the news about our good friend, Mike MacDougall.

Just last week, Mike received the devastating diagnosis of a brain tumor. Today, he underwent a brain biopsy, and we are currently waiting for the results.

Regardless of the outcome, he will need to travel back and forth to Kelowna General for treatment, which will add financial strain during this already difficult time.

His partner Janet is by his side, and keeping us informed of Mike’s progress.
Mike had a difficult time walking today, which will mean more support will be needed when Mike comes home.

Mike has been a pillar of our community in Fraser Lake. For years, he has selflessly volunteered his time to help others, volunteering at the Mens Shed and Autumn Services whether it’s driving folks to appointments, helping build a kitchen, or a carport for a senior, lending a hand wherever needed, or simply being a friendly face in tough times. He was awarded Volunteer of the Year in 2018, and it’s no wonder why—his kindness knows no bounds. And since we haven’t had any more volunteer awards he hasn’t had the opportunity to win more, or he would have.

Mike has been there for me countless times, whether it was changing tires, or building garden boxes together, or having a tool that I need that he happens to own. He’s always ready with a joke to lighten the mood and a warm smile to brighten your day. If anyone needed anything, Mike would be the first to step up and help. Mike is like an extra brother or uncle for many.

Now, it’s our turn to give back to him. We are setting up this GoFundMe to help cover the costs of his medical treatments, travel expenses, and any other related needs during this challenging journey. Every little bit counts, and your support will make a world of difference for Mike as he faces this battle.

Thank you for considering helping Mike. Please share this with your friends and family to spread the word. Let’s rally together to show him the same love and support he has always given to all of us.

Donation boxes for those not able to use this platform will be set up at the Fraser Lake Men’s Shed and Autumn Services.

With gratitude,

Sarrah Storey
