The past week has been a whirlwind for Mike. After Abbey heard minimal updates from him over the weekend, she decided to have a friend of Mike’s bring him to the ER on Sunday evening. Although Mike was released the next morning, no real insight from the ER was given. Mike remained virtually unresponsive on Monday morning, leading Abbey to make the difficult call for an ambulance. Abbey flew out to Idaho.
Currently on the Critical Care floor, Mike's primary challenge is his pancreas, with fluid causing extreme pain, nausea, and difficulty breathing. On Friday, a draining procedure brought some relief, and a true transformative pain and nausea medication schedule was prayerfully initiated that night. However, until then, there had been little improvement, and the pain was extremely challenging and hard to manage.
Friday night, Mike experienced his most restful sleep since his hospitalization. However, after a CT scan early Saturday morning revealed a kidney stone. Immediately following that news, The GI Specialist delivered more news - Mike needs to be transferred to the University of Utah Hospital for a pancreas stent due to concerns about the acidic fluid in his abdomen. Mike is currently awaiting the procedure in the hospital, and due to the holiday season, there is limited availability. If circumstances turn, there's a possibility of him being transferred to Oregon or Washington.
