Mike Neville. What can we say about this amazing man? He is truly a legend, dedicated and steadfast. He is an excellent example of someone who has dedicated their life to helping others.

He began working as a paramedic in 1967 and has put in nearly 60 years of service with Durham Region. He has accumulated more than 100 years combined service having also worked in Northumberland County, and up until December 2025 in the City of Kawartha Lakes. This alone is an incredible feat but this man has officially taken the title of the longest working frontline paramedic in all of CANADA. He continues to help patients with kindness and compassion, he is truly an extraordinary man.

Unfortunately, Mike has been recently diagnosed with Stage 2 Lung Cancer and is beginning treatment in the upcoming weeks. He will have to endure multiple rounds of chemotherapy and surgery in the next few months. Between the chemotherapy and surgery he will be unable to work like he was originally planning to. It is a privilege to set up this “gofundme” page so you all have the opportunity to support Mike. This campaign is being set up to assist him with expenses he will incur in the coming months with missed work, travel and care costs. The funds raised will help offset these costs and allow Mike to focus on his treatment and recovery.

Many people have reached out asking how they can help Mike during this time. We understand that not everyone is in a position to donate, but simply sharing Mikes story and this fundraiser with others is just as meaningful and appreciated.

Mike has always been a social butterfly. Being with his colleagues, peers, and patients has kept him passionate about his work for nearly six decades. He would love to hear from anyone who wants to help lift his spirits during treatment.
