Help support Mike and family through his battle with cancer

Donation protected
I’m here today to ask for help for my husband Mike and me. In the beginning of November, Mike started having pain in his chest, under his arm, and in his back. He went to the doctor, and they found a 14cm mass in his left lung. He was set to get it biopsied, but before that was able to happen, he lost feeling from the chest down in a matter of hours, so he was rushed to the hospital and then transferred to a larger hospital.

Once there, we found out that the mass had spread to his spine between T2 and T3 and was scheduled for surgery for the very next morning to cut out as much of the mass from his spine as they could. That was December 1, 2024. He was in the hospital until December 27, 2024, and when he left, he still had little to no feeling in most areas. They sent the part of the mass that they removed to the lab and informed us that Mike had stage 3 small cell lung cancer.

He started treatment and had chemo once a week and radiation five days a week. He seemed to be doing better, and they told us last week that they believed the mass had shrunk a considerable amount, so all was going well until the night of March 4, 2025. He was acting very confused and started running a fever, so he was rushed to the hospital again. Once there, they diagnosed him with sepsis, pneumonia, an acute saddle pulmonary embolism, MRSA, and COVID. He was sedated and put on a ventilator until the antibiotics had some time to work. He’s awake now but will still be in the hospital for several weeks, if not a few months.

I’m here because I need help. He was the sole earner, and now I’m unable to work because when he’s home, I’m his full-time caregiver. With Mike’s prognosis being terminal, he was approved for disability, but because you must be disabled for six months, he won’t receive his first check until June. I’ve spent all of our savings trying to keep bills paid, keep food in the fridge, buy medical equipment he’s needed, and on gas taking him to his appointments five times a week. They’ve already repossessed his truck, and my vehicle is next, which would leave us without a way to get him to treatments or me to him while he’s in the hospital. I have no idea how I will pay our rent, electric, or anything else. Any money donated will go straight to bills to hopefully help us catch up and keep things from being shut off. That’s not even counting the tens of thousands in medical bills that his insurance doesn’t cover. Even if you can’t donate, just sharing would be more appreciated than you know. Thank you.
