Help Support Micah and Family!
I am advocating on behalf of my brother and his family. My nephew Micah (age 4) has suddenly developed a medical condition which we don’t have many answers for just yet. At this time, his potential diagnosis include: blood/bone infection or bone cancer. We are very concerned for him and I know his parents are beyond worried and stressed.
My wish here is to ask your help by way of donation. In these situations, every little bit adds up AND helps!! I simply want to ease some stress for my brother and his family. Currently expecting to have to return to the IWK undetermined times over the next several week, the financial requirements to do so is very overwhelming. Micah also requires antibiotics for the next 6 weeks. These antibiotics come at a cost of $1700/week, $1400 of which is covered by medical coverage. The difference of $300 is something they were not expecting to have to pay out of pocket. I kindly ask for your help so little Micah can get his medical needs addressed and so my brother and family can focus their attention & energy on Micahs health.
Background Information: On July 14th, Micah woke up unable to walk but he was without pain. His parents brought him to the hospital to get checked. While at the Oromocto Hospital they took some X-rays and found a mass on his femur. At this time it was determined they needed to send them to IWK for further tests.
They travelled to the IWK the following week. The medical team there did some test (MRI, CT scan & Bloodwork) which they said was consistent with infection but still could not figure out exactly what was going on, they were sent back home and instructed to wait for a call for an appointment to return to the IWK for more in-depth testing.
They received the call to return to the IWK a few days later. While there this time, they installed a PICC line for the IV antibiotics. They also did a biopsy of the bone to see if it would grow fungus which apparently is a sign of it being an infection. To date, the biopsy has not grown any fungus. As precaution, they will continue to treat him with the antibiotics as they want to rule out infection.
We don’t have many answers right now BUT the one thing we know for sure is they need our help and that’s what we hope to do for them with YOUR generosity! ❤️
